Medieval Tournament
The herald announces the arrival of the nobility for the opening of the tournament and introduces the knights. Clad in plate, chain and padded armour, weapons at the ready the knight is the peak warrior, ready to face anyone. Thus the battle of the knights begins in a spectacular combat, each identifiable as friend or foe by their unique heraldry. The knights main weapon is the sword and defence the shield, but knights like to fight with axes, maces, two handed swords, glaives, bardiches and all manner of devious weapons.
Archery
The archers are called to order, introducing who they are and begin a demonstration of the archery skills and the power of the traditional English yew longbow and the heavier warbow requiring incredible strength to draw. The public are entertained with the types of arrow used, and how accurately and quickly the archers can shoot.
Optionally Have A Go Archery allows the public to shoot a bow themselves.
Dancing
Dance was a popular past time as it is today, in all walks of life with dances such as the Washer Womans brawl through to Lord Zouches Masque. Along with the dance, medieval music was a popular entertainment to which the dancers spin and turn to show their best clothing and finery.
Living History
A glimpse into medieval life, portraying the skills and cunning craftsmen and women such as cooking, embroidery, the armourer repairing the knights equipment, set to a backdrop of medieval tents. The living historians are happy to engage with the public about their crafts.
